1 cup all-purpose flour
1¼ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ cup butter (room temperature)
¾ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs (room temperature)
2 tsp vanilla extract
¼ cup milk (room temperature)
½ cup discard (room temperature)
Buttercream Frosting Ingredients:
1 cup butter (room temperature)
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tbsp vanilla extract
5 tbsp heavy cream
pinch of salt

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350° and line a cupcake tin.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and sourdough starter discard until smooth.
4. In your mix stander beat the sugar and butter at medium speed for 4-5 minutes, or until light and fluffy.
5. Add in the eggs, one at a time, beating at medium speed until combined. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
6. Add half of the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, then alternate between the milk/discard mixture. Mix at low speed, until all of the ingredients are combined, being sure not to overmix.
7. Divide the batter evenly into 12 your cupcake pan.
8. Bake for 16-18 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
9. Remove the cupcakes from the oven. Let them sit 5 minutes and then place on a wire rack to cool completely.
How to Make Buttercream Frosting
1. In a stand mixer with a whisk attachment, beat butter at medium speed for 2 minutes, or until light and fluffy.
2. Add the powdered sugar to the butter, one cup at a time.
